County Executive

The County Executive is the highest elected official in Allegheny County and is responsible for the oversight and operation of 20 departments under the jurisdiction of the executive branch.

Representing Allegheny County in all meetings and negotiations with the heads of other governmental or quasi-governmental bodies, the County Executive is also the representative of the county in all meetings and negotiations involving economic development.

In addition to providing leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of county government under the authority of the office, the County Executive negotiates, awards, and signs all contracts or other agreements on behalf of the county. The County Executive is responsible for meeting any state of emergency, enforcing ordinances and resolutions of the county, and ensuring that county operations are characterized by excellence, professionalism, efficiency, openness, equity, and integrity.

Sara Innamorato

Sara Innamorato was sworn in as Allegheny County Executive on January 2, 2024. Prior to winning the election for County Executive, she served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives after securing an overwhelming majority and winning the election for the 21st District seat in 2018.  

Sara is a lifelong resident of Allegheny County, currently residing in Upper Lawrenceville. She is a graduate of North Hills High School and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s College of Business Administration.
