Act 76 Application Process

How to Apply
To apply for a Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act (LERTA) Act 76, tax abatement:
Contact the municipality in question to to obtain an application.
- The length and dollar amount of the abatement varies with each municipality's ordinance.
- Most often, the ordinances cover only a limited and specific area of the municipality.
File the application for approval in the municipality in which the property is located.
- City of Pittsburgh LERTA applications are filed at the City Treasurer's Office.
Once approved, forward a copy of the approved abatement application to:

Note: A LERTA (Act 76) determination is appealable by Special Appeal.
Attention: Allegheny County does not abate county taxes in all participating municipalities. It serves as an information conduit for all the participating taxing bodies regardless of county participation.
