Enforcement, Regulations, and Compliance

The Health Department's Air Quality’s Enforcement section is comprised of compliance engineers and site inspectors.

This section is dedicated to enforcing the Clean Air Act and all local Allegheny County air regulations. Enforcement inspectors respond to every citizen complaint received via the complaint line (412-687-ACHD) or via the county's online complaint system.

The ACHD’s Civil Penalty Policy outlines the procedures to be followed for assessing civil penalties for violations of the Article XXI regulations:

Please visit the Compliance Status Report page for a list of USS Clairton Works process information reports, the Enforcement Actions page for a list of enforcement actions and civil penalties dating back to January 1, 2020, and the Regulations and SIPs page for information on ACHD regulations and its state implementation plans.
