Board of Elections Approves Plans for November General Election

Published on September 09, 2024

PITTSBURGH – Sept 9, 2024 – Today the Allegheny County Board of Elections approved plans presented by Elections Division staff for ballot return sites and satellite offices in advance of November’s general election. County Executive Innamorato, Councilmember DeMarco and Councilmember Hallam voted unanimously for the ballot return sites. County Executive Innamorato and Councilmember Hallam voted for the satellite offices, while Councilmember DeMarco voted against satellite offices.

County Executive Innamorato said: “I want to thank the Elections Division staff for their hard work and preparation in advance of November’s election. Increasing access to voting through ballot return sites and new satellite offices is critical to a vibrant democracy, and I’m excited that we’re able to bring increased services to the voters of Allegheny County this fall.”

Similar to the April election, the County will again host ballot return sites, which are staffed locations where voters who received a ballot in the mail can return ballots in-person to a County employee. Ballot return sites will be open the seven days before Election Day, including the weekend of November 2 and 3, and Monday, November 4.

New for November, the County will also host satellite offices which offer a fuller range of services for voters. At satellite offices, residents can register to vote, request a mail in ballot, complete, and return it all on the spot (commonly referred to “over the counter” voting). Over the counter voting has been available the last several elections at the County Office Building in the weeks before Election Day. Now this service will be expanded to four additional locations around the county. The deadline to register to vote is 5:00 PM, October 21 and the deadline to request a mail in ballot is 5:00 PM, October 29.
