Published on November 15, 2024
PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today that traffic restrictions on Walter Road between Pearce Mill Road and Tennis Court Road in North Park have ended. Shoulder, parking, pedestrian, and cycling restrictions on that section of road began on May 14, 2024. The traffic restrictions were required for work on Pine Creek North Branch Bridge No. 3. That included the replacement of two deteriorated concrete barriers, cement repairs, approach roadway work, rock installation, and replacement of guide rail and pavement markings.
Pine Creek North Branch Bridge No. 3 carries an average of 2,227 vehicles daily. Before the project, the bridge had a condition rating of 6 (fair) on a 0-9 scale based on National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) established by the Federal Highway Administration. Pugliano Construction Company, Inc., of Plum completed the project as part of a $2.6 million contract that also includes work on six other bridges.
