County Executive Innamorato Announces New Slate of Board Appointments

(PITTSBURGH) - Today County Executive Sara Innamorato announced her second slate of board appointments since taking office. She nominated ten people to serve on five different boards, including the Allegheny Regional Asset District, Allegheny County Airport Authority, Southwest Pennsylvania Commission, Allegheny County Sanitary Authority, and Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County. These names were submitted to County Council for approval at the Tuesday, March 19, 2024 Council meeting.

County Executive Innamorato said:“ I’m pleased to put forward this slate of individuals that bring diverse expertise and perspectives to our county’s vital boards and authorities. I want to extend my thanks to all of the previous board members who served and for those who were re-nominated, thank you for your continued commitment to these important public institutions. I extend my deepest gratitude to each nominee for their willingness to serve and for the unique perspectives they will bring to our endeavors."

Allegheny Regional Asset District

The Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) invests in Allegheny County's quality of life through financial support of libraries, parks and trails, arts and cultural organizations, regional attractions, sports and civic facilities, and public transit. With half of the proceeds from Allegheny County's additional one percent sales and use tax, RAD has invested more than $2.5 billion in our regional assets since its inception. An additional $2.5 billion has gone directly to Allegheny County, and more than 120 municipalities, for property tax relief and local government services. For the Allegheny Regional Asset District, County Executive Innamorato nominated Monica Malik, who is the President of Public Affairs and Market Area Manager of Western Pennsylvania for Citizens Bank; and Jamilah Ducar, who as an Assistant Vice Chancellor of The Engaged Campus, enables Pitt to be an engaged campus and anchor institution by ensuring Pitt is a visible and responsive collaborator within its local communities. The County Executive also re-nominated Dusty Kirk, who is a partner at Reed Smith, and a recipient of the 2021 Anne X. Alpern Award by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Professions Awards.

Allegheny County Airport Authority

The Allegheny County Airport Authority is charged with the responsibility of operating Pittsburgh International Airport, Allegheny County Airport, and any other airport or aviation-related facility located within Allegheny County. For the citizen appointee position, County Executive Innamorato nominated Dan Connolly, an attorney, economic development, government relations consultant. Dan was only 10 years old when his father, Robert, tragically died in the Flight 427 crash in Hopewell. His family actively lobbied for legislation that would ultimately become known as the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act.

Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County

The Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County (RAAC) assists with generation, stimulation, and management of economic and community growth. RAAC acquires and prepares local real estate for economic development, manages financing from public sources, and facilitates the reuse of vacant, tax-delinquent, or blighted properties. For the RAAC, County Executive Innamorato nominated Diamonte Walker. Diamonte Walker served as the former Executive Director of the URA. She is currently the CEO of Scholar House, a non-profit entity dedicated to helping income eligible families access equitable educational and workforce development opportunities as a poverty mitigation strategy.

Southwest Pennsylvania Commission

The Southwest Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) is a 10-county commission that plans regional transportation improvements and economic development. For the SPC, County Executive Innamorato nominated Jesse DiRenna, who is the President International Union of Operating Engineers Local #66, and has experience as a Union Representative and a Certified Crane Operator/Heavy Equipment Operator; and Chris Sandvig, who through the Goburg and Mobilify organizations, led efforts to stabilize and grow transit funding, reform state transportation legislation, advocate for a regional transit vision and local funding option. The County Executive also re-nominated Bob Macey, who represents County Council District 9 and serves as the Chair of Public Works Committee.

Allegheny County Sanitary Authority

Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN) is committed to providing wastewater treatment services 24/7. They work to enhance the community’s quality of life and safety by protecting our rivers and streams. After 60 years of continued design, construction, and operation of the sewer system and treatment plant, they now have 400 plus employees serving residential, commercial and industrial customers in 83 communities throughout Allegheny County. For the ALCOSAN, County Executive Innamorato re-nominates Darrin Kelly, who is a U.S. Navy Veteran, the president of the Allegheny-Fayette Labor Council, and a proud Pittsburgh firefighter for over 22 years; and Paul Klein, who has served County Council District 11 since 2015, a clinical associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh, and he teaches business courses at the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and the College of Business Administration.
