Marriage Return

The officiant performing the marriage ceremony must complete the bottom portion of the marriage license and file it with the marriage license office that issued the license, within 10 days of the date of the ceremony. A marriage record will not exist until the officiant who performs the marriage files this document.

If the couple provides the Allegheny County Marriage License Bureau with an email address, the couple will be notified by email if the marriage return is not filed by the officiant within 60 days after the marriage license was issued by Allegheny County.

A copy of your marriage record is not automatically issued to you after your marriage. You must order a marriage record and pay a fee.
