  • The Allegheny County Police Department is not a repository for all criminal records within Allegheny County. The police department only houses records of its own calls for service and investigations.

  • Investigative information is not subject to release under the Right to Know Law. RTKL Section 708(b)(16) states that records relating to or resulting in a criminal investigation are exempt from disclosure.

  • Recordings made by law enforcement officers are also not subject to release under the Right to Know Law. Act 22 of 2017 established a separate procedure for requesting law enforcement recordings.
