Detective Division Commander
Inspector Jason Binder
Inspector Jason Binder is assigned as the Detective Division Commander. He has served with the Allegheny County Police as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, and lieutenant in the police department.
Inspector Binder began his career with Allegheny County Police in 2002 as a patrol officer. Prior to joining the county police, Inspector Binder served as a Municipal Police Officer within Allegheny County from 1997-2002. In 2005, he was transferred to the Detective Division as an investigator in the Narcotics Section. After nine years in Narcotics, he transferred to patrol. He remained in patrol for three years before being transferred to the Detective Division as an investigator in the General Investigations Section, where he remained before being promoted to Sergeant, and later to Lieutenant.
Inspector Binder was previously the General Investigations Unit Lieutenant from 2022-2024, prior to being promoted to Inspector in January of 2024. Inspector Binder has also served as the Members Assistance Program Coordinator since 2022. From 2018 to 2022, Inspector Binder was the Narcotics, Vice & Intelligence, as well as the Violent Crimes & Firearms Sergeant. Upon being promoted to Sergeant in 2018, Inspector Binder served in the uniform division at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Inspector Binder attended the Community College of Beaver County for Police Science. He completed the FBI Trilogy of Leadership in 2022.
