Trevor Wingard was named the Warden of the Allegheny County Jail on January 9, 2025.
A 28-year correctional professional, Wingard returned to the ACJ after retiring from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections in 2022. He previously served as the ACJ Acting Warden in 2011.
Wingard most recently worked as the Pennsylvania DOC as Deputy Secretary for the Western Region from 2017-2022. Prior to that, he served as Superintendent at SCI-Somerset and SCI-Laurel Highlands from 2012-2017 following his first position at the ACJ.
He began his career as a correctional officer at SCI- Somerset in 1994, and he became a corrections counselor at the facility the following year. He served as a corrections unit manager and deputy superintendent at SCI-Greensburg from 1998-2011.
Wingard served in the United States Air Force from 1987-1990 and in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1990-1992. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and is a member of the American Correctional Association and the Pennsylvania Prison Wardens Association.
