May 28, 2013
On behalf of the Tuskegee Ainnen Memorial of the Greater Pittsburgh Region (TAM) we invite you to be a sponsor of our inaugural Golf Outing. The Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Golf Outing will debut on May 28, 2013 at the beautiful Diamond Run Golf Club in Sewickley.
The greater Pittsburgh region is home to almost 100 World War II enlistees under the Tuskegee Airmen program. This group of men and women represent the largest contingent of Tuskegee Ainnen in the country. These flight instructors, pilots, bombardiers, navigators and flight line personnel proved conclusively to America that young black men and women could skillfully fly in combat. The Tuskegee Airmen's combat record is renowned and, in March of2007, the Tuskegee Ainnen collectively received the Congressional Gold Medal. This Gold Medal is the highest civilian award bestowed by Congress and only 300 plus recipients received this honor since the first one was given to George Washington in 1776.
TAM is a 50 I c (3), non-profit organization, founded in 20 I 0 and incorporated in 20 II. The organization's mission is I) to create an interactive Monument to honor the record number of African-American youths from our area who, in the midst of World War 11, overcame racial denial of the worst kind and proved their worthiness in the air combat; and, 2) to continue the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen by providing information & education for schools, community centers and libraries regarding the courageous actions of these men and women.
During 2013 , we will also unveil a major Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit at the Pittsburgh International Airport and undertake construction in Sewickley Cemetery of the largest outdoor memorial in the country. The Golf outing is one of our major fundraising events of the year, and we need your support. Enclosed is a sponsorship fonn which explains the various levels of support. Your participation at any level will anchor this event and help to insure its success.
