The Sustainability Program
Allegheny Green is a comprehensive initiative to promote sustainable practices within County government through countywide policies, programs, and green projects.
Allegheny Green focuses on external leadership activities and internal practices, specifically our physical plants and assets, how we conduct business, and the critical role of our staff. We are leading by example with programs such as the green roof demonstration project, and by setting aggressive goals for reducing energy and water consumption.
Allegheny County encourages residents, businesses, and municipalities to also implement sustainable practices that support economic interests in an environmentally appropriate and equitable manner.
Our collective goal is to reduce the County’s ecological footprint.
